It’s a tough subject to tackle. But if the NHL feels compelled to hold these events of inclusion in order to “grow the game”, Bettman & Co need to mandate player participation. And if an offending player wishes to exercise “his freedom” he does so with a scratch & fine donated to the event -(LGBT). I’m patiently waiting for the first objection of Military Night, but I have a feeling that’s not going to happen.

I appreciate your perspective immensely Ken. Very good reporting to include perspective from other practicing Christians who have dedicated their lives to studying the Bible

Great article Ken. This is an important subject that goes well beyond hockey. I suspect this topic is often ignored by hockey writers because it makes them uncomfortable. I especially like your take on Reimer and his ignorance and selective quoting of scripture. Too often people take out of context ideas or phrases that support their beliefs and don't seem to bother to think through the larger point being made.

I really enjoy your articles and podcasts.

I will respectfully disagree. I'm not convinced this was brave, or he knew he'd get blow back. I don't know this players specifics, but a LOT of the NHL are well to do children who are and grew up fairly socially insulated. I would not be surprised if he expected zero blow back. I wouldn't be surprised if he was oblivious to the fact he's now a punchline.

Just my two cents, apropos of nothing. Thank you for being awesome.

Oh, on the note of punchlines....

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Where I came from would mean, dull, not smart, not tuned in.

You didn’t get him for the homophobia bs. You hacked him to death for his “cluelessness “. Forget about his rural upbringing and lack of City “street smarts” throw in his past play. He is a career backup goalie, a farmer who made a decision not to participate. You cut him god hope you feel better destroying in your terms a bit of a hick.

In my terms, "a bit of a hick"? Can you please point out specifically where I said or even intimated that?
