Gambling. I used to gamble a bit. I put a $100 in the pot in.... 2013? I've been milking it since then. This year, the river ran dry, and I think I'm good. I'm not inclined to add to it. I don't think I enjoyed it THAT much, as opposed to just watching with out taking a financial stake.
The idea that Rogers has taken a financial bath since signing its big NHL is false. According to publicly available financial information submitted by Sportsnet to the CRTC Sportsnets pretax profit increased from $44m in 2014 to $121m in 2019. Pretax profit dropped to $60m for 2020 because advertising revenue fell due to the pandemic. Here are links to the data:
