Fighting should be banned. Period.

When you review how many enforcers there have been and how many reach this end then compare it to the suicide rate in sample population of aggressive men, what do you get? Then account for some selection bias for people prone to depression being drawn to the role of enforcer. Is it still just the fighting to blame? I think blaming one factor in any suicide is committing to simplistic falsity. You want to talk about the link between alcohol and suicide and the habitual alcoholism that has been linked to hockey players for a century? Ban alcohol sales at games and suspend players for drinking as well if we're looking at root causes.

Yes fighting should be banned, but at the very least, the act should be punished with a game misconduct, and a automatic 3 game suspension. But it looks like Bettman will not step down anytime soon. However, after witnessing the Deslauries vs Reaves fight last night, it looks like the “Rempe” factor has led to more irrelevant/staged fighting has risen its ugly head again. Hopefully it’s just a blip.

How true it is. There also needs to be more financial stability for these players to be set up with a properly managed future. Athletes as these have a majority of the life without work or income.

Banning altogether it is ridiculous; with exceptions of course. Yes, there's a lot of them that die by taking their own life, But are we forgetting that he went bankrupt? U don't think that played any part? Also, others who have passed the same way were battling addiction which unfortunately most times ends this tragically.

Thanks for continuing to discuss the topic and it’s unfortunate it’s needed.
