Why the Ryan Reaves hit was perfectly legal
And why hits like that will continue to happen unless the NHL decides to change Rule 48, which doesn't seem very likely
Full disclosure: I am not a big Ryan Reaves fan. Then again, it’s not 1986 anymore, so I’m not real keen on guys who play eight minutes a game and roughly a goal once every 14 games. For a guy who is supposedly so valuable, he sure seems to get traded a lot. Running around the dressing room in a maniacal state yelling out the names of the starting lineup is great. I just prefer that he’d stay in the dressing room after he’s finished.
