The summer of Brad Treliving is something to behold
The Flames' manager is now officially the alpha male among the NHL's cowboy GMs and he's actually probably made his team better, at least in the short term

It has happened before, not very often, but there have been a few times in NHL history when a player has scored 100 points for his team, then immediately moved on to another city. Mike Bullard did it once. And of course, Wayne Gretzky and Jimmy Carson did it when they were traded for each other in the summer of 1988. You might have heard about that one.
But never, ever, in the history of the NHL had a team lost two players immediately after posting 100-point seasons before the Calgary Flames gained that distinction in this off-season. So when you ponder the Flames and what they’ve done this summer, consider the fact that they lost players who put up career highs last season, one of them smack-dab in the prime of his career, and there’s a chance they’ll come back next season with an even better team in 2022-23. Who does that?
