One game for Kuznetsov might be Parros' worst ruling ever
And that's saying something. 'The Violent Gentleman' has been unfit to run the NHL's player safety department from the day he took the job, but he's outdone himself with his latest suspension
A day after the decision came down, I’m still trying to fathom how, in any universe, the NHL could see fit to hand Evgeny Kuznetsov of the Washington Capitals a paltry one-game suspension for his two-handed baseball swing at the head of Vancouver Canucks’ defenceman Kyle Burroughs Monday night. It actually might be one of the worst decisions ever made by the NHL’s so-called Department of Player Safety and its director, former NHL heavyweight and entrepreneur George ‘The Violent Gentleman’ Parros.
And that’s definitely saying something, because there have been some terrible decisions made by both Parros and his predecessors, almost all of whom had zero regard for player safety when they played or were involved in management in the league. As agent provocateur Allan Walsh pointed out on Twitter, the NHL basically said with its suspension that clubbing an opponent in the head is treated with the same seriousness as skipping out on the All-Star Game.
