The Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022 marks only the third time in history that there have been no Stanley Cup winners among the players inducted, and the first time ever that four players have gained entry without winning an NHL championship. It also almost doubles the Swedish membership in the Hall, bumping it to seven from four.
Prior to Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Daniel Alfredsson gaining entry in 2022 (along with Roberto Luongo in the player category), Sweden had already been represented by Borje Salming, Nicklas Lidstrom, Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg. So it is a very special weekend for the Nordic, hockey-crazed country that produces an inordinate number of talented players and some of the best human beings you’ll ever meet in the game.
