Prior to getting a call from the Erie Otters, Stan Butler thought his coaching days were over. So did Wikipedia, which is still referring to him as, “a former Canadian ice hockey coach and general manager.” They might want to update that one because at the age of 67, Butler is back in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters.
It was a job he didn’t think would ever come. After being relieved of his coaching duties with the North Bay Battalion in the middle of the 2019-20 season, Butler was serving as a senior advisor to the team and living in Sudbury when he got a call from Otters GM Dave Brown.
