Hockey Canada board: Who are these people?
If you're a hockey fan, you probably haven't heard of most of the people who have been nominated for the new board, which is actually a really good thing
By my count, over the first 108 years of its existence, the boards of directors of Hockey Canada were made up of 117 different people. Four of them were women. That’s one fewer women than the number of candidates who were nominated to fill the nine vacant seats for the current board, a group that is poised to usher in more change and clear direction than any of its predecessors.
When Thomas Cromwell released his third-party governance review of Hockey Canada in light of the biggest and most damaging scandal Hockey Canada has ever faced, he recommended that in the future, no board be made up of more than 60 percent of one gender. So, look, they’re already taking his advice, which is actually a really good thing.
