But the people who are probably least impressed about it all is Bedard and his family, who are armed with an enormous amount of perspective
The first time I ever saw Connor Bedard in person, he had emerged from his West Vancouver team’s dressing room at an arena in Toronto with his hair pointed in several different directions. He was wearing a wrinkled, untucked dress shirt that had a ketchup stain on his left cuff. It was November, 2018 and the 13-year-old Bedard was already drawing comparisons to Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid.
I asked him how he and his family were dealing with all the attention and pressure of being a young hockey star in Canada, how they were feeling about being constantly chased by agents. “I think we can handle it,” Bedard said. “It’s just people.”
